“The volcanic soil here on Moon Mountain is what’s so different from the Sonoma Valley down below. This is better for Cabernet Sauvignon. At 700 feet it’s warmer when there’s frost down below; there can be a 5- to 6-degree difference. When I worked in the valley it was about tonnage and quantity. I have always enjoyed my work, but up here, it’s more interesting. The hillside is a challenge. I have been here since we started moving rocks. And there are a lot of rocks, still. But, look at the view.”
