“With this land, there are blocks that have less soil. Block 18 is one of the places that needs a little more water; it always dries up right away. What I know is that we get good quality from here. When we looked for the best for BRION, Mark Herold took two clones from block 18 and one from block 15—old vines, not producing much. He picked some early and some he picked after a rain. Then he did a barrel fermentation. That was his experiment and this is the wine.”
